Being the nerd that I am I flew over from Toronto to see the first two shows of the pixies reunion tour that took place in Minneapolis Minnesota on April 13th, 2004 and in Winnipeg Manitoba on April 14th, 2004. They are my absolute favorite band and I was pissing myself with excitement at the prospect of being able to hear them in all their glory live. I took a bunch of pictures (some really shitty and some pretty damn good) and got a few video clips of both of the shows. Please don't steal them.

I met a whole bunch of pixies fans from the frank black message board at the two shows. Here is a page that shows some of the members who were planning to meet up in Winnipeg before the show. And here are pictures of the actual meeting in Winnipeg at the King's Head. It was the first time that I met people I knew from the internet in person and despite expecting comic book guy types everyone was really cool. If it wasn't for the geographic distances I could see myself hanging out with them.

The saddest part of going to see the shows was finding out in advance that cameras would be forbidden at both of the shows. There was one exception though, the Minneapolis show was to allow disposable cameras which as anyone who has used one knows, they are terrible. Well, I thought it was better than nothing so I bought one of those pieces of crap and attempted to take pictures. What came out though was absolutely horrible. I got barely half the roll that was even remotely usable. The worst part of it too was that I wasn't even searched when going into the venue so I could have easily brought my camera in which was sitting in a car just a few blocks away. So what follows is the crappiest set of pictures in the world but if you really want to see them here are the pictures and video from the Minneapolis Pixies Show.

When I was going to the Winnipeg show I was like fuck it, I'm bringing my camera in. My hotel was not even a block away so I thought that if they find it and won't let me in I'll just run back to the hotel and drop it off. But of course just like in Minneapolis I wasn't searched in the slightest. It was my first time using 3200 speed film and I didn't really know what to expect but even the guy who developed them had to admit these pictures kick serious ass. If only I snuck the camera in for Minneapolis as well. Here are the pictures and video from the Winnipeg Pixies Show.

I also captured some of the rare pixies footage I had on tape. There's a bunch of stuff like appearances at festivals and a few interviews. There's also a little bit of the breeders and frank black.
